M&t Online Banking Mobile Options

M&T online banking serves all of its customers with online access to their saving, checking and other accounts, so that customers can, at any time of the day or night, sign in to their accounts to check what’s going on. This has become one of the highest-traffic services available on the internet at large, due to the many customers who choose to go with laziness rather than run errands they find unnecessary.

It comes as no surprise, then, than mobile banking, whether through text message or more in-depth, interactive methods, has become extremely popular. Mirroring the rise of smartphone use in general, mobile apps have allowed clients to sign in to their accounts when they are quite literally in the middle of nowhere, and has become an important strategy for banks looking for new ways to contribute to overall customer satisfaction with their products.

Currently the offerings available from M&T Bank allow online banking to be conducted either through the browser of a smartphone, or, in the case of iPhone customers and other Apple-related products with app support, a dedicated app, which is generally quicker and more manageable than visiting the regular webpage of most banks (though some design a second website to display when accessed by a smartphone). As the app allows for the customers to skip the little step of typing the URL into the browser, it saves just a little amount of time, which is likely to be the difference between signing in or not, given the time constraints of people either busy or lazy.

While a mobile app may seem like a redundant piece of software given the browser built into the phone, one cannot compete with the one-touch ease of use offered by mobile apps, and the design constructed to suit the size and visibility of the screen, rather than being a standard webpage viewable on a full-size computer. Many banks aside from M&T have already moved toward this type of service, which allows for a more convenient, easy to use login than would otherwise be provided. It is thus to be considered part of a larger strategy of overall customer satisfaction for banks who wish to cater to these sorts of clients, whose digital needs have become a standard lifestyle choice.

Currently unavailable is an Android app, but with market saturation approximately matching that of the iPhone, it is likely only a matter of time before M&T Bank follows along with this avenue of mobile banking as well, as has been the case for other banks who have chosen to cater to both markets. As long as smartphones continue to grow in popularity, every bank, and most businesses for that matter, would be well-advised to cater to the market by offering their own smartphone app for accessing their online services under the ubiquity of this new technology.

Ironically the trend toward internet banking is likely to approach a standstill when all customers who would use it have signed up, but more and more customers are siphoned off toward smartphone banking as a result of increased smartphone popularity. Smartphones will likely bring phone banking back into vogue, at least to a certain, albeit significant, degree.
