Exterior House Painting: Buying A New Home

It can be fun and exciting buying a new home. Buying a new home can bring the feeling that you are getting a chance at a fresh start and you will probably begin thinking about all of the things that you can do with the home once it is yours. Buying a new home can also be stressful however, because you will likely want to get the best deal for your money and you do not want to buy a home just to find out that there are many problems that you will need to pay for to have fixed.

One thing that you will probably want to take a close look at on a home that you are considering buying, is the exterior house painting. Although many home owners that are selling their homes have the home painting done before listing their home for sale on the market, there are some home owners that try to get buy on selling their home without having it repainted. If a home that you are considering buying has an exterior house painting that needs to be redone, you will need to decide whether this is something that you want to pay for after buying the home, whether or not you should ask the seller to bring down the price to compensate for you have to have it repainted, or if you want to keep looking for a different home.

You should also check for any pre existing problems with the exterior house painting. Environmental conditions can do a number on a home painting, so you should have the home thoroughly inspected for problems. There problems could include many things such as rust stains, mildew growth and peeling paint. Although there problems can be fairly easy to have fixed, if they have been left untreated for too long, the process to fix them could be a little more extensive.

If you decide to buy a home that needs to have its exterior house painting redone, you should check with the previous owners to see if they can give you the reference of a good contracted painter that you can hire for the project. If the previous owners had the painting completed while they owned the home, they should have a good idea of a professional contracted painter that you can hire. At the very least, they could tell you which contracted painter you should avoid if they had a bad experience with one in the past. If you can not contact the previous owners, you could try asking some of your new neighbors for references.

If you have fallen in love with a home and want to buy it, but notice that the exterior house painting needs to be redone, you probably should not let this deter you from buying the home. This is because an exterior house painting is not too hard to have redone, and if you can not see yourself in any other home, why pass up the opportunity to own the home of your dreams?
